WHITE FLAG...start NOW??

Last night, I tried to keep my eating at bay...Christmas cookies, gifts of chocolate, even the junk food chips that we bought because it was the holidays were SCREAMING at me...I went to our private FB page for the January game that hasn't even started yet, and BEGGED for someone to play a mini-game with me so that I do NOT undo all that I have worked on the past 5 games...and I had two takers-immediately...THANK God for Ann and Brenda...and today, we played.  And I played--PERFECT...and I bet I see a change in the downward motion, TOMORROW...LOVE GAME ON!

How many people can play this game??

We are up to 40 in our little town in MD...and because of playing virtually, we have players in Ohio and in VA...40 folks committed to playing in January!!  The excitement is growing...One of our teammates dropped by tonight and he is pumped!!  He says he is competitive and will PLAY TO WIN!!  ALRIGHTY!!  That's the attitude I need to keep ME going to!!  Let's play GAME ON!!

WHAT do I eat??

I get this alot when I am telling folks about this meal plan.  The Game On Diet website has the list of foods you can eat
http://www.thegameondiet.com/templates/tgod/images/food_chart-5-1.pdf.  Sorry, I don't know how to embed yet, but by clicking on this, you should be able to see what you can eat...but, if you are at all like me and like your food in slightly more inventive forms, I thought I would give you a sampling of my Week 1 plan starting January 5th...when our next game begins...When you read the book, you will be told that everyone's measurements of food are different, but you need a HAND to begin :)  Carbs: fist size, Protein: palm size and Fat: Thumb size...Yes, my husband gets to eat more food than me because his hand is bigger than mine...and my hand is freakishly small because I have a small person inside this body...just gotta shrink the body to equal the hand :)

Day 1:
Meal 1: Egg on whole wheat english muffin with avacado slices.  Meal 2: Lauging Cow wedge with Triscuits and Nuts. Meal 3: Grilled Chicken (leftover from night before) on half whole wheat tortilla with lettuce, tomatoes and avacado. Meal 4: Protein Bar (experiment and find one you like); Meal 5: Crockpot Lean Italian Beef on a Whole Wheat Roll with Roasted Asparagus and olive oil.
(Simple, right :)?
Day 2:
Meal 1: Plain Greek Yogurt in blender with Frozen Strawberries, 1 TBS ground flax seed and water.  Meal 2: Mozz. Cheese Stick with Wheat Thins and Peanuts. Meal 3: Same lunch as Day 1; Meal 4: Protein Bar; Meal 5: Whole Grain Pizza Crust topped with Sliced zucchini, tomotoes, shrimp, lo fat mozzarella and lots of spices (i.e.: crushed red pepper, garlic, oregano, basil, rosemary and whatever else tickles your fancy)...and a spritz or drizzle of olive oil.
Day 3:
Meal 1: Hard boiled Egg on Whole Wheat Bagel Thin. Meal 2: Plain greek yogurt with pure maple syrup, pear and walnuts. Meal 3: Whole wheat wrap with leftover shrimp from night before (see the pattern...always make enough at dinner for next day leftovers reconstructed). Meal 4: Laughing Cow Wedge with Wheat Thins and Nuts. Meal 5: Lean Pork Chops with Sugar Free Apricot All Fruit, Sauteed green beans in olive oil and garlic and 1/2 baked sweet potato (plain).
Day 4:
Meal 1: Nutrigrain Whole Wheat Waffle with Turkey Bacon, Strawberries, Syrup (only a little) and walnuts. Meal 2: Mozz Stick with apple and sliced almonds. Meal 3: Leftover pork stirfried with egg, snap peas, carrots and scallions. Meal 4: Greek yogurt, banana and peanuts. Meal 5: Grilled Chicken, Brown Rice and Sauteed Spinach.
Day 5:
Meal 1: Canned pumpkin mixed with egg whites, stevia, and cinnamon, baked and topped with walnuts.  Meal 2: L.Cow wedges with grapes and sliced almonds. Meal 3: Leftover grilled chicken on bed of fresh spinach and red onions. Meal 4: Protein Bar. Meal 5: Whole grain tortilla with red fat shredded cheddar or jack cheese topped with corn, salsa, spinach, mushrooms and avacado.

And this is my week one plan, so far...obviously, any of these meals can be changed to fit your likings...according to the plan...and watch your portions...remember, fist, palm and thumb.

Before and After...more pics to come....

My son and I after a wedding in May of 2011--45 days before my first GAME ON game.

My best friend, Barbie, and I , in October...had finished Game 3 at this point...about 14 pounds down.

New Year, New You, GAME ON 2011

I turned 42 last June.  My birthdays are usually quite an event...and I am the one that forces that issue...but this year, it didn't seem that special...because I felt SO bad about me and what I looked like and how I felt.  And then I got the magic email from a woman at the community college I work at--a game--she wanted to play a weight loss game and she wanted other co-workers to play with her...because, although you can play by yourself, it is not nearly as fun (yes, enter snicker and giggle here).

Am I competitive?  Well, I went to a college with a BIG football team--okay, Roll  Tide!-- which helps because I do like sports and those of us from the University of Alabama LOVE TO WIN!   And, I like to win, as much as most people.  But the game of weight loss??  Could this work for me??  I immediately looked at my office-mate/very close friend, Cindy, and said, "Here we go...let's look at this."  The website looks like this: http://www.thegameondiet.com/, but you HAVE to read the book.  So much more in the book!!

And look we did...and we signed up to play.  We put in the money ($15 as determined by the "leader" of the game), and convinced, very easily, two other officemates to play with us.  The factors against us: 1. It was summer and I live in Maryland.  The beach, the pool, snowballs, ice cream, bbq's...  2. I was leaving for vacation one day, yes, ONE DAY, after starting the game.  YIKES.  3. I LOVE to cook---all kinds of food--this was for me or against me?  Time would tell.

Things going for me: 1. I was going on vacation with MY family, and I would be the person cooking.  2. It was summer in Maryland: fresh fruits and veggies were plentiful.  3. I LOVE to cook--all kinds of foods--even ones that were good for me.

So, let's fast forward to December 2011.  Which is where we are now.  I have played this FOUR WEEK weight loss game 5 times.  I have lost, gained a little back, lost again, gained a little again and again, and again. All in all, I am down 22 pounds since June 29, 2011.   We are about to start our BIGGEST game ever on January 5th.  The prize is big--it looks like we will have almost 40 folks playing and everyone is putting in $25 each.

More than the prizes, it is how we are helping other people.  Everyone, everyone, everyone, diets in January.  We are playing with half the group having played before and half never playing before.  We played between Thanksgiving and Christmas and LOST weight...we will LOSE and may LOSE big in January--come watch and SEE!!

This game gives you what many in the weight loss industry want, but can't put a price tag or GIVE you...The Game On Diet gives you:
1. Group support from your teammates and your opponents
2. Food ideas from the book and from the other "gamers"
3. Group pressure--who wants to disappoint their team
4. Accountability--you get points for doing things right, not just weigh loss
5. Weight loss--the reason we play...follow the plan and it WORKS!!
